Fight Director | The Incomer & Mission features to premiere at Edinburgh International Film Festival

Two productions I worked on as Fight Director are premiering at this year's Edinburgh International Film Festival.

The Incomer, the debut feature from Edinburgh-born filmmaker (and long time friend) Louis Paxton, opens the festival's 79th edition on 13 August.

Starring Domhnall Gleeson, Gayle Rankin and Grant O'Rourke, with John Hannah, Michelle Gomez and Emun Elliott, the film had already won the NEXT Innovator Award at Sundance earlier this year before landing this year's Opening Night slot. It's a Focus Features and Universal Pictures International release, backed by the BFI and Screen Scotland. The Incomer won both my Best Actor Award (Grant O'Rourke) and my Best Feature awards at this years Dramatic Action Awards.

Mission, from director Paul Wright, is one of ten films competing for this year's Sean Connery Prize - the first Scottish film to do so. Starring George MacKay, it reunites Wright with the actor following their 2013 collaboration For Those in Peril. Mission is supported by BBC Film, Screen Scotland and Film Cymru Wales. Incredible work from all concerned. George McKay is incredible. He won the Best Actor Award, for then then unreleased film, at last years Dramatic Action Awards for his work on this.

Both screen as part of EIFF's 79th edition, running 13-19 August 2026 across venues including Filmhouse, Cameo Cinema and Cineworld Fountainbridge. Don't miss them. These are both incredible films.
