Dramatic Action Awards 25/26 Daily Round-Up 16.7.26

Day three of the Dramatic Action Awards 2025/26 featured four awards recognising comedy performance, television production, production teamwork and emerging Scottish filmmaking talent.

Best Comedy Performance went to Brendan O’Carroll for his work on Mrs Brown’s Boys. Having worked with Brendan as stunt coordinator for several years, I have seen first-hand the skill, commitment and extraordinary sense of fun he brings to every physical comedy sequence.

Best Television Production was awarded to River City as the programme reaches the end of its remarkable run. The award recognises the outstanding work produced during its final season, with a special mention for Executive Producer Martin McCardie, the production team and everyone who contributed to the programme over the years.

The Best Production Team Award went to Mrs Brown’s Boys for the second time. Every department brings enormous skill and professionalism to the production, while creating a genuinely supportive atmosphere that makes cast and crew feel part of the family.

Thursday concluded with the Rising Star Award, presented to filmmaker Ian Gordon. As writer, director and performer, Ian is creating ambitious and distinctly Scottish work. His forthcoming film The Gudeman has been made using real locations, practical creatures and human artistry, with what I have seen so far proving genuinely outstanding.

The Dramatic Action Awards conclude on Friday with the David Goodall Award for Excellence, followed by Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Feature Film.
