Warning Lines
Lines drawn one metre (for foil) or two metres (for epee and sabre) from the rear limits of the piste, at which competitors are warned that they are approaching the rear limit.
Warm up
The mental and physical preparation of the body, before a fight , rehearsal or performance.
Warm down
The mental and physical calming of the body, after a fight , rehearsal or performance. This prevents lack of stiffness etc.
Watch parry
Slang for parry of prime, as it positions the combatants weapon bearing wrist in front of his/ her eyes, as if checking the time.
Weapon bearing line
Line defended by the weapon bearing hand.
Wide Angle Lens
(Film) A lens with a wide angle of acceptance. It's effect is to increase the apparant distance between foreground and background objects.
Window parry
Slang for the reversed parry of five.
Wipe
(Film) Optical transition between two scenes that appears as a line moving across screen.  
Wrap and trap
Secure disarm executed by wrapping the free hand about the blade of the opponents and gripping the guard.
Wrapping it up
An envelopment.
Wrist cut
A cut made from the wrist, or to the wrist.
