Above: Fairytale - Directed and designed by myself. Multi media and a simple set made this work beautifully. Good supporting staff make a big difference. As I was devising this show I was pretty much stuck in rehearsal. Set was construced from my drawings only. It was exactly what I asked for, without compromising it at all.

Design Backround

Before training at QMC in Acting and Stage Combat I studied Design at Central College Of Commerce in Glasgow.

I have designed many projects since leaving the college and on several occasions have worked in a fight director/ designer capacity. e.g. Battle Of Stirling Bridge and more recently Macbeth. This may sound like a strange combination but has often proved to be advantageous.

My most recent productions have been for the Citizens theatre community department and for Scottish Youth Theatre, a company which has influenced me greatly.

Below: Merlin - The Wild Boy - which I directed, designed and was fight director on. 5 star review as well!

Whether directing and designing or designing for other people I enjoy the process of design work. It is somewhat less pressure than fight directing, and more rewarding on some levels also.

Above: Dalek prop, constructed by myself. No i don't make them to order sorry. This was one of two made for private sale. I kept the other one!
